Illogic on the Border With hundreds of Central American families overwhelming the southern U.S. border each day with asylum pleas, President Donald Trump may win the legal challenges to his declared national emergency. However, his demand that Mexico stop the onslaught or else he will close the border altogether is illogical. First, closing it will hurt both countries. U.S. Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan says to already expect delays in moving goods across the border due to the situation, and if his boss completely shuts down the crossings, there will be even greater economic damage.
