2018 Congressional To-Do List

The second session of the 115th Congress will convene tomorrow, the start of a very busy schedule for the year. President Trump, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) will meet this week to discuss their agenda for 2018. To date, Ryan has said he’d like to pursue reform of entitlement program spending with a focus mostly on Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Technically, however, farm bill crop support programs and of course the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the biggest farm bill program of all, also fall into that category and thus, depending on the scope of any reform, could be impacted.
