It is midterm Election Day in the U.S., and the antipathy between Trump supporters and haters is generating more than the usual interest. Whatever the results may be, the campaign has emphasized the wide chasm that exists between the two sides. Current polling suggests that the Democrats will regain control of the House with Republicans retaining their majority in the Senate. Election polling is not infallible, though, as the 2016 presidential election demonstrated. If the polls are correct, however, there will be two years of inflammatory, abrasive political gridlock in Washington.
