In terms of publicity, the biggest news coming out of the G-20 summit in Buenos Aires late last week had nothing to do with that gathering. Instead, it concerned the dinner meeting between President Trump, President Xi and groups of advisors that resulted in the announcement of a temporary truce in the U.S.-China trade war. President Trump agreed to withhold increasing tariffs on $200 billion worth of imports of Chinese goods from 10 percent to 25 percent for at least three months, and President Xi agreed to high-level negotiations during that period aimed at resolving the underlying issues.
