There have been many questions about the potential number of acres in North Dakota that will not get planted and, instead, go to Prevented Plant (PP) under the crop insurance program. When North Dakota and eastern Montana were saturated in 2011, slightly more than 5 million acres were not planted in North Dakota alone.
