Corn had an outside week, reversing higher which set the course for further fund buying. Last week, China purchased a huge amount of US corn due to their internal deficits, with some analysts calling for China to possibly import 30 mmt of corn, which could include 5.0 mmt from Ukraine, 3.0 from Brazil, and 22.0 mmt from the US. As we begin a new month, the pressure of bean harvest in SA will keep beans on the defensive on good rallies while corn will experience less pressure. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
