U.S. wheat futures have rallied and exceeded their most recent highs set in June 2017. Chicago December wheat is back pushing against the $6.00 level today as the long-term chart shows below:

The ongoing late season drought in the EU carved a much bigger hole in EU crop production than anyone was willing to forecast just 30 days ago. It’s possible the USDA will cut their EU wheat production estimate 15 to 20 MMT from their July estimate. That might be an unprecedented cut after only a 30-day mid-summer window .
