The status of E15 has been overwhelmed by the drought and the subsequent requests to waive the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for 2012/13, but automakers recently approved the use of this blend in their new vehicles.This summer the American Motorcyclists Association wrote a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding concerns about misfueling. In response, the EPA mandated a four-gallon minimum purchase of fuel at a gas station that provides both E15 and E10 from the same hose. This rule was made to prevent vehicles with smaller fuel tanks from being exposed to fuel blends greater than 10 percent ethanol. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
