The status of E15 has been overwhelmed by the drought and the subsequent requests to waive the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for 2012/13, but automakers recently approved the use of this blend in their new vehicles.This summer the American Motorcyclists Association wrote a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding concerns about misfueling. In response, the EPA mandated a four-gallon minimum purchase of fuel at a gas station that provides both E15 and E10 from the same hose. This rule was made to prevent vehicles with smaller fuel tanks from being exposed to fuel blends greater than 10 percent ethanol. Weighing in on strategic realignment
WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
