The status of E15 has been overwhelmed by the drought and the subsequent requests to waive the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for 2012/13, but automakers recently approved the use of this blend in their new vehicles.This summer the American Motorcyclists Association wrote a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding concerns about misfueling. In response, the EPA mandated a four-gallon minimum purchase of fuel at a gas station that provides both E15 and E10 from the same hose. This rule was made to prevent vehicles with smaller fuel tanks from being exposed to fuel blends greater than 10 percent ethanol. EPA did not approve E15 for motorcycles, off-road vehicles or small engines.Now all that's left is for automakers...
