Today felt like the good old days in many respects. The most important one is that no markets opened until 9:30 a.m. this morning and they closed at noon. That session was a little shorter than the old 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. trading sessions, but it certainly felt very good. It was a very civilized day. I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night when Europe came to work to check on the markets. My wife wondered why there wasn't a computer in the bathroom or under the bed. The world was like it should be. My holiday wish is that the folks at the CME (and other exchanges) would also remember how good it felt, but that simply won't happen.
