U.S. RFS Volumes The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is reviewing the EPA’s proposed rule under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program for establishing the mandated volumes of biofuel use in 2018. Under that preliminary proposal, the agency called for 19.24 billion gallons of renewable fuel: 15 billion gallons of conventional biofuel (e.g., primarily corn ethanol) and 4.24 billion gallons (ethanol equivalent) of advanced biofuel, including 238 million gallons of cellulosic biofuel and 2.1 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel.
