Russian Grain Markets: 30 April-4 May 2018 As the week in review was a holiday period, prices did not significantly change, especially against the last week of April when they increased dramatically across all regions. Presently, the market has taken a pause to adjust to those new prices. The milling wheat export price returned to $215/MT FOB Black Sea, but purchase prices at the seaports dropped to $199-202/MT CPT-Black Sea port. The feed barley export price was stable at $215/MT FOB, while its purchase prices at seaports also fell to $193/MT CPT-Black Sea port. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
