USDA released its monthly Cattle on Feed (COF) report Friday. The 1 November inventory of all cattle and calves on feed in feedlots with 1,000 head or more capacity was 11.8 million head, 101 percent of November 2018, right in-line with pre-report expectations. October placements were 2.48 million head, which was 110 percent of last year and slightly below the industry guess. October is typically the month with the highest placements of cattle on feed. Marketings in October were 1.88 million head, 99 percent of last October and in line with the pre-report estimates.
