USDA will release its monthly Cattle on Feed report tomorrow. Pre-report estimates from the industry peg the total number of cattle on feed as of 1 April at 106.1 percent of 1 April 2020. The range of estimates was between 105 percent and 107.5 percent.
The implied inventory of cattle on feed would be 11.96 million head, down from 12 million head on 1 March, but much higher than April 2020 when the effect of COVID was beginning.
