A new food label law in Chile requires that packaged foods high in calories, saturated fat, refined sugars or sodium bear stop sign-shaped warning notices on the front of the package (FOP) by 2016. FOP labeling is used in the U.S. to market certain foods, but a government study recommends standardization for more widespread application.The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), which has waged campaigns against acrylamides, trans fatty acids, soft drinks and other targets, has a new issue: food labeling.
