Livestock China Sets Record For Pork Imports in 2020 The latest data release from the China Customs Bureau show that pork imports in December totaled 964,000 MT. That additional tonnage raised the annual total for 2020 to 9.91 MMT, an all-time record, and a 60.4 percent increase over the 2019 total. Pork and pork byproduct imports accounted for roughly 50 percent of the total imported meat volume in 2020 and were equivalent to 60 million live hogs. With the domestic price surging, the government announced plans to release 30,000 MT of reserved frozen pork to the market this Thursday. This will mark the third such auction of reserved frozen pork so far in 2021 and raise the year-to-date total to 80,000 MT.  Domestic Hog Output Still...
