Wheat led the grains complex higher today on a drier weather forecast for the parched Southern Plains. Corn and soybeans traded both sides of unchanged in lackluster trade. Cattle futures worked their way sideways while the hog market posted big gains. Traders are now analyzing the possible impacts of a U.S.-China spat over sorghum. Recall that China has claimed the U.S. is “dumping” sorghum on the world market (i.e., China) – a thought USDA Secretary Perdue vigorously rejected yesterday. Should China follow through with its antidumping duties, the fear now is that President Trump will retaliate with another $100 billion of potential tariffs on Chines goods.
