The Advanced Ethanol Coalition (AEC) this week issued an industry progress report for cellulosic biofuels that shows "a detailed look at the progress made towards the commercial deployment of advanced biofuels. According to the report:

The cellulosic biofuels industry has reached the commercial deployment phase; however, "high capital risk from OPEC-induced price distortions, constrained blending markets and policy uncertainty continued to slow the rate of deployment." Enzyme costs for cellulosic production are down 80 percent in the last decade and cellulosic biofuels are today being produced for $2.00 per gallon or less.
