In Iowa yesterday, President Trump said the administration is “very close” to granting a year-round waiver for E15 usage. This confirms what he said in early April when asked about ethanol from the White House press pool. He had responded, “We're going to raise it up to 15 percent, ... (that) makes a lot of people happy. We're going to go to 12 months which makes a lot of farmers very happy.” Currently, E15 can only be sold seasonally and not during the 1 June-15 September period, which has stymied the ability of ethanol producers, blenders and retailers to develop a market.
