The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released its monthly Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) today. April is the month that includes a forecast of the peak demand summer driving season fuel use, which runs from April through September. Total gasoline use is forecast to be down by 15 percent compared to 2019; and ethanol blending is forecast to be down 20.4 percent based on the blending economics from a forecast average price for regular gasoline of $1.58/gallon versus $2.72/gallon last year. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
