Elections and Policy; Appeal of Non-reciprocals

Elections and Policy Congressman Jim Jordan came up 20 votes short in his first-round effort to secure the Speakership of the U.S. House. Some farm state Republicans were seeking assurances from him that the farm bill will have a chance at passage this year. Historically, he has voted against farm bills. Meanwhile, and across the pond, the Green Deal and Farm to Fork policies issued by Brussels in June 2022 appear to have slipped from the work agenda between now and the June 2024 elections.  A group of 11 countries are trying to remove the proposal’s requirement that each member state have a specified pesticide reduction target reaching 50 percent by 2030. While the liberal faction won this past weekend in Poland, the nonincumb...

From WPI Consulting

Illuminating the value of technical research

On behalf of a commodity producer organization, WPI evaluated the outputs from a project that featured a $5 million investment into technical research over multiple years. WPI’s team captured the results of this extensive effort and synthesized them for presentation to the organization’s governing board; among the findings uncovered and presented for the first time was the development of genomic traits proven, via rigorous testing, to provide crop yield advantages of 50 percent or more to U.S. farmers in times of drought. Capturing measurable results from long-term efforts can be challenging. Educating clients on the dynamics of success measurement when quantifiable results are not readily available requires deep client-consultant collaboration and an ability to consider both near- and long-term client aspirations with market/policy dynamics – attributes that WPI brings to every consulting engagement.
