EPA Promises Changes to Endangered Species Review of Pesticides

As we reported last week, farmers’ cost of production has been at record levels six consecutive years; that is a good context for the EPA’s latest Vulnerable Species Pilot (VSP) program which is likely to add production costs and reduce crop production, despite EPA’s promise to drop some of the most restrictive requirements.  Under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), EPA is required to consider the impact on endangered species of pesticide registration. Over the years, EPA’s pesticide registration and re-registration has been subject to several lawsuits. Weighing in on strategic realignment

WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
