On 29 June, the EPA’s Office of Research and Development issued the Second Triennial Report to Congress on Biofuels and the Environment. The report reviews existing peer reviews science on the environmental impact of biofuels. The first report was issued in 2011 and included data through 2010. Two years prior, in June 2016, the Subcommittee on Energy and Power of the House Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing on the implementation of the RFS where Members of Congress expressed a bipartisan interest in receiving more information from the EPA on the environmental impacts of the RFS.
