European Market Analysis

Regional News  German and central European cattle values are starting to decline after their recent, multi-year rally. Slaughter cow values declined this week as producers started to cull herds following seasonal patterns. Slaughter steers and heifer prices, however, were stable as supplies remain “balanced” against demand, per WPI sources.  The Swedish government is building a grain reserve for the northern parts of the country to supply its population in the event of a war or armed conflict. The Ministry of Agriculture and the Minister of Civil Defense explained the plans, which will cost about $60 million and last from 2026-2028. Forecasting developments in production agriculture

On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt. WPI’s model has subsequently provided quantitative support to a multi-million-dollar investment into short-season corn variety development.
