Friends in High Places The Biden Administration submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court on the challenge by livestock producers to California’s Proposition 12. It quotes a prior Supreme Court decision delineating that states cannot determine policy in other states where there is no legitimate interest. Specifically, it says “Voters in pork-producing States must determine what’s cruel treatment of animals housed in those states – not voters in California. The brief was prompted after 16 U.S. senators from both parties wrote asking the Administration to side with the pork producers.
