Early this morning, USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) released preliminary data on U.S. acreage planted, abandoned and prevented from being planted. The basis was information collected from various farm program requirements and crop insurance. FSA shows that about 268,000 acres of corn were planted, and subsequently abandoned, with about 3.573 million intended corn acres prevented from being planted. It also reports negligible soybean abandonment, but shows 1.687 million soybean acres fell into the prevented planting category.
