The 2023 farm bill process is under way with both the House and Senate Agriculture Committees having several hearings completed or scheduled. On 16 March, the Senate Agriculture Committee will receive testimony from Secretary Vilsack. For his part, the Secretary, in various speeches to date, has laid out his priorities for the farm bill: increasing markets for ethanol and sustainable aviation fuel; finding new energy markets for farm waste including methane; and growing value-added opportunities, such as developing a premium for climate-smart products.
