India Increases Support Prices In a politically motivated decision that is going to cost government of India more, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved a hike in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) of some key winter crops (see table below). The increase was recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Commission for Agriculture Costs and Prices (CACP).The new rates become effective at the start of the new marketing year (April 2013) but already are informing farmers on what to plant in October/November for harvest in March/April 2013.
