Ethanol Blending Program in India Takes Off The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has finally approved a new ethanol blending program, making it mandatory for all gasoline to be blended with 5 percent ethanol. Per the CCEA's recommendation, the Ministry of Petroleum has been asked to ensure that the mandate is implemented. The program has been in force since October 2007 and has faced several hurdles. In November 2009, a financial penalty was advocated in instances when gasoline was not blended properly, but this was not enforced.
