India to Retain Top Slot for Meat Exports According to the Agricultural and Processed Foods Export Development Authority (APEDA), the value of Indian meat products and exports, was $2.91 billion in 2011/12 and $3.29 billion in 2012/13, an increase of 13 percent. Exports of Indian beef/buffalo meat, carabao meat (carabeef) as it is called in the global parlance are going up steeply. In 2012, India's beef exports were 1.4 MMT and in 2013 they are expected to touch 1.7 MMT, as per USDA. Its earlier estimate was 2.1 MMT of exports in 2013. Exports of Indian buffalo meat in 2012 amounted to 25 percent of the world meat trade against only 8 percent share in 2009.
