The Senate is moving forward on the bi-partisan infrastructure package; a cloture vote to limit debate and provide a timeline for a final vote and consider amendments was passed with all Democrats and 18 Republicans. A final vote will occur in the next 12 to 24 hours. That will move the bill to the House, but as we reported previously, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) has said she does not intend for the bill to come before the House until the Senate passes a separate and final budget reconciliation. So, the infrastructure package will be put on ice for a while. Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
