The House of Representatives is preparing for the farm bill to come to the floor for debate next Wednesday. The House Rules Committee is meeting on Monday, 17 June to issue a rule on amendments. Any potential amendments must be turned in to the Committee before its meeting convenes at 5 p.m. EDT.The version of the bill that hits the floor will have some updates. The Agriculture Committee exempted the Dairy Market Stabilization Program (DMSP) from the normal rulemaking process, but the Judiciary Committee -- which has jurisdiction -- amended the farm bill. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
