Congress faces a midnight Friday deadline to pass an omnibus spending bill that funds seven agencies in the federal government, including USDA. Any government shutdown resulting from a failure to do so would only be partial, however, as it would only affect those entities since appropriations bills for five other agencies have already been secured. If federal funding lapses, USDA would operate under the plan it had in place for the last temporary shutdown in January 2018. FSIS/APHIS import and export inspections would continue. On behalf of a Canadian oilseed processer WPI's team provided market analysis, econometric modeling and financial due diligence in support of a $24 million-dollar investment in a Ukrainian crush plant. Consistent with WPI's findings, local production to supply the plant and the facility's output have expanded exponentially since the investment.
