The vacancy on the White House National Economic Council (NEC), which resulted from Gary Cohn’s resignation after the president enacted steel and aluminum tariffs that he opposed, will be filled by Larry Kudlow. Perhaps best known as the long-time chief economist for Bear and Sterns, Kudlow was also a staffer at the New York Fed and previously director of economics and planning at the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan.
