The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved the model misfueling mitigation plan (MMP) submitted by the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) as step for companies to develop their own MMPs. While the RFA model is a generic template that companies can submit as a plan with regard to product labeling and traceability system for mid-range blends, individual companies must also add their own specifics on a survey of compliance at fuel retailers that will meet the specific requirements EPA sets out for such compliance. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
