USDA will release its Cattle on Feed report tomorrow; analysts’ pre-report estimates peg the total number of cattle on feed as of 1 June at 101.5 percent of June 2021. The range of analysts’ guesses were tight; from 101.3 percent to 101.9 percent of a year ago. The implied inventory of cattle on feed from the average forecast would be 11.88 million head, challenging the June monthly record. January 2022 saw the second largest on-feed inventory for the month, and February, March, April, and May all saw record on-feed inventories.
