Hogs and Pigs Preview USDA will release its quarterly hogs and pigs report tomorrow. Pre-report estimates from the industry peg the total swine inventory at approximately 77.3 head, which is 103 percent of last year, which set a record for the 1 September herd.
If the predictions are correct, that would also be 102.4 percent of the 1 June inventory, which was a record as well. Pre-report estimates of animals kept for breeding are 101.4 percent of last year and kept for marketing estimates come in at 103 percent year-over-year.
