Gestation Stalls and Pizza Parties Last week we reported that a number of companies -- from Safeway to Burger King -- have moved away from pork originated from gestation stalls, battery cages for chicken, and lean-finely textured beef (LFTB). Denny's is now the latest company to join that group, but Domino's Pizza has bucked the trend. In a vote, Domino's shareholders rejected a resolution proposed by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) that would require its pork suppliers to stop housing sows in gestation stalls. An Iowa farm group has initiated the "Ag Pizza Party" encouraging livestock producers and farmers to buy a Domino's pizza over the coming weekend (18-20 May).
