With the back and forth on the shipments of grain out of the Ukraine, live cattle futures prices started to decrease as feed prices signaled that cattle would come to market quicker. The nearby December contract is now trading at about par with the negotiated market indicating that futures are following the market, not leading it. Prices moving forward will depend on corn. Competition for replacement feeder cattle is strong and will be more competitive through the end of the year and into 2023.
