Red meat and poultry production total estimates were down for August in the latest WASDE report. Beef production for the year was estimated at 25.926 billion pounds, which was 262 million pounds less than July on lower slaughter and relatively lighter dressed carcass weights. Steer prices were forecast at $227.06 per cwt, a gain of $5.75. Pork production in 2025 is estimated at 27.747 billion pounds, down 294 million pounds due to slower processing and a reduction in dressed carcass weights. The average barrow and gilt price is forecast at $69.32 per cwt, up $0.75.
