February 2023 total red meat and poultry stocks were up from January and were 5.8 percent greater than February 2022 as the industry continues to rebuild stockpiles. Total red meet supplies fell 2.64 percent due to a sharp decline in beef stocks while total poultry inventories rose 2.5 percent from January, in-line with the normal, seasonal increase. Total beef stocks were down 6.3 percent from January’s five-year high and the drawdown was one of the report’s biggest surprises.
