WPI reminds clients that USDA’s April WASDE will be released this Thursday at 12:00 PM EDT and that the CBOT markets will be closed Friday for Good Friday. The CBOT found some support today with short covering in corn and soybeans while profit taking took wheat lower. Funds were mostly squaring their positions ahead of the April WASDE and the three-day weekend. Funds are estimated to have bought some 6,000 contracts of corn, 1,500 contracts of soybeans, and sold 1,500 contracts of wheat. WPI’s team was retained by the governing board of a U.S. industry organization to review a decision, reached by vote, to invest significant assets into the development and management of an export trading company. WPI’s team conducted a formal review of this decision and concluded that the current level of market saturation would limit the benefits of the investment. Based on WPI’s analysis and recommended actions, the board subsequently reversed its decision and undertook a strategic planning effort to identify more impactful investments.
