General Comments On a day in which fresh news or market inputs were very limited to nonexistent, traders were forced to turn to South American weather forecasts for inspiration. The U.S. GFS model projects a return to normal rainfall over southern Brazil and Argentina in the seven- to 14-day time frame. However, the EU model shows a continuation of mainly dry conditions into the first week of February. Overnight the market chose to run with the GFS projection, which brought on more liquidation selling in the complex and across the board.
