General Comments Capital preservation can sometimes be observed in trade activity, and that seemed somewhat apparent today as positions are adjusted prior to the release of the WASDE this Thursday. Speculative traders still hold a sizable short position in December corn and some find it is better to take limited profits below $4.70 per bushel than to take a chance of USDA releasing a bullish surprise on the market. The December corn contract closed up 5.50 cents to $4.69 per bushel. Of course, a number of the speculators have their short positions in corn offset with long positions in the soy complex.
