Markets surprised the trade a bit and opened with small gains Sunday night, led by KC wheat despite the rainfall across portions of the southern Plains hard red winter wheat region. Although that area’s predicted weekend rain event did occur, coverage and amounts were not as good as advertised. Minneapolis wheat futures were hammered again today because temperatures across the northern Plains will quickly shift from well below normal to above normal. Forecasting developments in production agriculture
On behalf of a private U.S. agricultural technology provider, WPI’s team generated an econometric model to forecast the movement of concentrated corn production north and west from the traditional U.S. Corn Belt.
