Overnight trade in CME grain and soy futures bounced off yesterday’s closes in modest Turnaround Tuesday fashion, indicating that markets had absorbed the bearish news contained in last Friday’s August WASDE. Wheat contracts were the leader with 6-7 cent gains. Corn and soybeans followed with gains of 2 cents or more. Support came from Euronext Paris wheat, which turned higher, and another surge on Dalian soymeal prices. Other commodities, including crude oil, also turned higher, but some of their gains were erased later. Trade in the day session followed a similar muted pattern with corn and soybeans clinging to small gains, while wheat retreated to near unchanged as Paris wheat backed away from earlier gains.
