Markets continue to chop around looking for some determinant of direction. In the absence of official reports, yesterday’s firmer PNW soybean basis levels provided a brief uplift but that faltered today. China gets mentioned as a possible source of the phantom demand but that seems politically unfeasible. More likely are other Asian buyers like Japan, or Thailand tsking advantage of trade war depressed prices.  There is an oversupply situation that needs to see some demand. Farmers can hold stock but storage is tight, particularly in areas like Nebraska and South Dakota that are distant from loading and processing facilities.
