The CBOT was sharply lower overnight and in early-day trade, thanks to rising political tensions between the U.S. and China. Reports say Chinese vice-minister Feng told the U.S. deputy Secretary of State that U.S.-Sino relations face “serious consequences” after reaching a stalemate. Soybeans took the brunt of that bad political news and sold off sharply.  By day’s end, however, higher soyoil and a strong round of end-user buying in soymeal had pushed soybeans to a higher close, forming a technical reversal for the day.
