The market was called higher except for soymeal and that was the start to the day, but it only took a few minutes before it turned much more decidedly mixed. Another very large flash sale of corn to China got everything fast out of the gate but the enthusiasm eventually evaporated even for corn, which set another intra-session high but then closed just a fraction in the green. Even for those markets that slid downward today, it is not a bear market. Overall demand, large volumes, and record export values means a healthy market, even if somedays are down. Communicating importance of value-added products
Facing increasing pressure to quantify the value of export promotion efforts to investors, a U.S. industry organization retained WPI to develop a quantitative model that better communicated the importance of exports. The resulting model concluded that value-added meat exports contributed $0.45 cents per bushel to the price of corn, increasing support for that sector’s financial support of WPI’s client. In addition to serving the red meat industry with this type of analysis, WPI has generated similar deliverables for the U.S. soybean and poultry/egg industries.
