General Comments Today’s Halloween market action cannot be described as being very scary, although Chicago and KC winter wheat contracts did fall to new contract lows. This weighed enough on corn to help take that market down about 3 cents even though the pace of the corn harvest is far behind average at 54 percent done. Meanwhile, soybean futures prices struggled hard to swim upstream but closed about unchanged. Soymeal closed down slightly, and soyoil gained a few points. Weakness in the grains with soybeans trading relatively stronger is a pattern we have seen rather frequently in recent weeks, and it is one that funds encourage since they are short the grains but long soybeans.
