Mercosur Regional Analysis

Wheat Like every other low-production year, the dynamics of Argentina’s FOB market are greatly reduced. On the one hand, there are fewer destinations where Argentina can compete and, on the other, there is less positioning by trading houses. In the current wheat campaign (December and January), Argentina has exported just over 2 MMT, with Brazil as the primary destination and accounting for 1 MMT (50 percent) of that volume. For the rest of the exports, destinations are primarily in Asia (mostly Indonesia) with 27 percent of the volume, Latin American countries (Peru, Mexico, Colombia) with 16 percent, and the remaining volume divided among various African countries.
